Mooring Facility Beneluxhaven
In the port of Rotterdam lies the Europoort area, which includes the Beneluxhaven. Besides Stena Line loading and unloading large RoRo ships here, ferries also depart from this harbor area to Great Britain. To remain competitive, the shipping company wanted to deploy larger vessels. However, the existing berth was too small and the quay outdated. In collaboration with De Klerk Waterbouw and Ballast Nedam, we realized a large mooring facility in the Beneluxhaven. This has doubled the mooring capacity for Stena Line.
The assignment
The work mainly consisted of the production and delivery of a 220-meter mooring facility. The project had to be completed within a very short timeframe so that the Stena Line jetty could be put back into operation immediately after completion. With a total weight of over 620 metric tons, it is a colossal structure composed of 11 sections and 65 vertical piles.

Shift work
To complete the work on time, it was decided to continue working in the evenings during favorable tide conditions. This was organized in multiple shifts. The project was completed in December 2017. With this expansion, Stena Line is prepared for the expected increase in the number of sailings.
