The assignment
In Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, the 1936 bridge was replaced by two new bascule bridges. The bridge connects the municipalities of Amstelveen and Ouder-Amstel. The old bridge was due for replacement both technically and in terms of traffic safety. In addition to the bridge itself, all surrounding structures have also been renewed. On behalf of BOK, Nauta Heeg has produced and installed various structures, including fender systems, foundation piles, and mooring places.
The work on the north side of the bridge was carried out at the beginning of 2022, and the south side was addressed in early 2023.
The constructions
On both sides of the new bridge, mooring structures and mooring areas have been installed for cargo and recreational vessels. The installation of these structures was carried out in cooperation with Van ’t Hek. Work on the north side of the bridge was completed in early 2022, and the south side was addressed in early 2023. This phased approach was chosen to streamline the construction process as much as possible. The new Ouderkerk Bridge was officially opened in July 2023, and all traffic can now use the bridge.
