Fendering Spoorbaanpad Almere

Redevelopment of the Spoorbaanpad

In Almere, two new cycle bridges are being constructed over the Hoge and Lage Vaart for the redevelopment of the Spoorbaanpad. This is the most important main cycle route from and through Almere and is part of the Almere-Amsterdam fast cycle route. The cycle bridges are replacing two outdated bridges. In order to protect the bridges and to guarantee the safety of recreational boats, Nauta Heeg was commissioned by client Verhoef Funderingstechnieken to realise a number of fendering systems.

All construction components, including the tubular piles, purlins and clamps, were produced by us.

Fendering system Hoge and Lage Vaart

The fenders have been placed in the waterways Hoge and Lage Vaart in front of the concrete foundation piles of the bridges. In the event of a possible collision, the fenders absorb the impact and the foundation piles of the bridges remain undamaged. The fenders have a varying length of 12.7 metres and 19.3 metres. All construction components, including the tubular piles, purlins and clamps, were produced by us and the complete assembly of the fenders was also carried out by us. At Veenstra coatings in Heeg, the complete structures were provided with a preservation system before they were transported to Almere.

The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The remaining work on the bridges will not affect water traffic. The waterways will remain open.
