Blauwverlaat may not be officially within village boundaries, but the Blauwverlaat bridge has always played an important role in its surroundings. After the bridge was modified and extended in 2013, the civil structures now require replacement as well. At the Blauwverlaat bascule bridge, we have installed new protective piles and replaced the existing wooden mooring structures with steel variants.
All new structures were fabricated and preserved at our facility in Heeg. On both sides of the bridge, Nauta Heeg installed a protective pile approximately 23 meters long, along with several new fender structures. The installation of the steel fender structures was carried out in collaboration with De Boer & De Groot. Our assembly team mounted the 10-meter-long fender structures on previously installed foundation piles at the site.
The installation of the steel fender structures was carried out in collaboration with De Boer & De Groot.
The bascule bridge has become significantly safer thanks to the new civil structures. All work was completed by mid-2022 and caused little to no inconvenience to local residents, shipping traffic, or road users.
