Bridge 2052
A new pedestrian bridge has recently been added to the IJburg harbour area. Bridge 2052 connects the neighbourhood and the harbour and makes it possible to walk around the harbour. This was previously not possible.
The bridge is placed on a concrete pillar and mounted between two existing quay walls. Commissioned by the municipality of Amsterdam, we were awarded to realise the 33-metre-long bridge in collaboration with De Boer & De Groot Civiele Werken.
The bridge deck consists of wooden deck planks with stainless steel anti-slip strips. The texts of the “IJburgers” are engraved in these anti-slip strips.
Contribution of local residents
The new bridge is not only a connection between two banks, but also shows how residents are connected to each other and their neighborhood. Local residents have made a unique contribution. They have provided texts and lines of poetry, 33 in total, which have been incorporated into the bridge deck. The bridge deck consists of wooden deck planks with stainless steel anti-slip strips. The texts of the “IJburgers” are engraved in these anti-slip strips.
Production and transport
The entire production of the bridge took place at our production location in Emmen. From Emmen, the bridge was transported to IJburg. At the end of March, the bridge was placed in 2052 and then festively opened.
