Production Halls, Robben Metaalrecycling

Robben Metaalrecycling in Wolvega has experienced significant growth in recent years. The existing site offered increasingly limited space and no longer met current requirements for production, storage and office facilities. Robben Metaalrecycling has been working with our family-owned business for many years. Building on this trusted relationship, it was a natural choice for us and Kampstaal to realise the new facility.

Two Halls, One Integrated Facility

The new facility consists of two interconnected halls, joined by a modern architectural façade. The largest hall, measuring 25 by 100 metres, forms the heart of the site, providing ample space for storage and day-to-day operations. The second hall, measuring 25 by 25 metres, has been designed to accommodate an installation for which acoustics play an important role.

Both halls are 15 metres high and feature generous clear spans, creating an open and well-organised working environment. The steel structure, supplied by our sister company Kampstaal, provides a robust foundation designed to support heavy installations and prepared for future solar panels.

Structural Steel and Cladding Tailored to the Application

We are responsible for the complete roof and façade cladding. Given the open design of the hall, Aluzinc was selected for its durability, low maintenance requirements and suitability for a solar panel installation. In total, more than 3,500 m² of roof area has been realised.

The façades of the main hall feature steel sheeting with a double HPS coating, covering 1,500 m² and providing a robust, weather-resistant finish. The smaller hall required additional sound attenuation. To achieve this, a built-up wall system was installed, consisting of 750 m² of perforated inner liner sheets with insulation and a black facing fleece. Omega profiles and horizontal external cladding complete the façade, creating a clean, industrial appearance.

Building Together for a Practical and Sustainable Facility

The strength of this project lies in the combination of scale and attention to detail. With a 250-tonne steel structure, 1,600 m² of concrete walls and 6,000 m² of roof and wall cladding, every element comes together in a building tailored to the customer's day-to-day operations.

The new facility gives Robben Metaalrecycling all the space it needs to continue growing, with modern facilities, high-quality materials and a structure built for the future.
