We have built two new halls for Switch Datacenters. Switch Datacenters is a 100% Dutch and sustainable data centre operator and developer based in the Randstad region. This builder of clean energy hubs seeks to optimally facilitate the Dutch digital economy in line with the wishes and requirements of the citizens, environment and politics of the Netherlands. Switch Datacenters does this by scaling down its own fossil fuel emissions and by participating in the energy transition with clean power and heat. But also through low carbon construction, for example by reusing materials.

Using materials properly and responsibly also contributes to our own sustainability goals. At Kampstaal, we try to apply circular construction as much as possible, including the new halls at Switch Datacenters. The steel and concrete for the halls are largely recycled. Construction of the first hall started in March 2022. 134 tonnes of steel were assembled over a period of about five weeks. The galvanised profiled steel plates were then installed. All steelwork was sandblasted in advance and given a two-component epoxy coating. This epoxy coating has very high mechanical and chemical resistance and excellent adhesion.
Fase 2
After installing the fire wall, our assembly workers on the build started phase 2. During this phase, a 60 x 38 metre hall was constructed, incorporating 350 tonnes of steelwork. Just as after phase 1, our sister company Kamplacon fitted the hall with roofing and wall panels. The project was completed in early 2023.
We are building large data centres both at home and abroad. We have already been able to deliver a number of great data centres in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Berlin.
