Working safely is an uppermost priority at the GB Steel Group – in fact, we’re always in ‘safe mode’! We commit to continuously improve awareness of safety within our organisation. We share knowledge, apply strict safety policies and motivate employees to be aware of the risks to their safety at all times. Whenever we deem it necessary, we take measures to prevent unsafe situations from occurring. Doing this allows us to reduce the number of unsafe events and thus minimise the number of incidents (absenteeism and accidents). In addition, as a group, we consider it important that our employees are healthy, safe and find enjoyment in their work. Which is why we continue to invest in creating a safe environment.

Safety Ladder

We have a number of initiatives designed to raise awareness for safety within our group. One such example was the further expansion of our management system last year with which we manage risks and exploit opportunities. In addition to our current group system of ISO 14001 (environment) and 9001, our CE EN1090 systems and VCA systems, we will have achieved Step 3 on the Safety Ladder (SCL) by 2022. Moreover, we are determined to continue to improve our safety culture over the coming years.
