Near Heerenveen lies Ecopark de Wierde. In this circular waste processing park, Omrin processes household waste from the Northern Netherlands in a sustainable manner.
We manufactured a new separation drum for the waste processor. The first sieve drum from the waste separation process, also installed by TruSteel Recycling, had reached the end of its technical lifespan. This, in combination with Omrin's wish to increase the capacity of the sorting installation, ensured that TruSteel was asked to develop a new separation drum.
After extensive consultation, it was decided to replace the current drum with a larger one with an inner diameter of 3.6 meters. In July 2023, the separation drum was installed at Ecopark De Wierde. After a mega operation of more than 12 hours, the new screen drum could be lifted into the separation plant. The new drum has an increased processing capacity of 45 tons per hour. Every week, this plant processes an average of 120 full trucks of residual waste.

TruSteel Recycling is proud of the collaboration with Omrin and is pleased to have once again contributed to the waste separation plant at Ecopark De Wierde. A few years ago, TruSteel realized a Dano drum for Omrin. Thanks to this unique installation, the waste processor can produce 6 million m³ extra gas and less residual waste goes to the residual energy plant.
We like to invest in long-term relationships with our customers. For that reason, we have started a process together with Omrin in which we continue to maintain and further optimize the installation after the drum has been installed.
